First Act’s original staged version of The Musketeers is based on the novel by Alexander Dumas, and follows the exploits of Athos, Porthos, Aramis and d’Artagnan, four swashbuckling musketeers dedicated to King, country, adventure, and romance (not necessarily in that order)! Young d’Artagnan arrives in Paris, hoping to join the ranks of the Musketeers, and finds himself immediately in trouble for insulting the Captain of the King’s guards, flirting with the lovely Constance Bonacieux, and offending all three of the Musketeers, resulting in a scheduled duel with each.  All are arrested for dueling, and King Louis intervenes on their behalf. The plot thickens as all become entwined in a plot against Queen Anne and her court of ladies, steered by the venomous Cardinal Richelieu and his spy, Milady de Winter.  Monsieur Treville appoints d’Artagnan as one of his Musketeers, and together with Athos, Porthos and Aramis, the four men seek to avenge the Queen and her court and protect the King from scandal. Many of the original characters from Alexander Dumas’ novel are here and we have added a few of our own to create numerous roles for actors of all gender and experience! Join us for this high-paced romp through 1630’s Paris, full of sword-fighting, romance, intrigue and excitement

Students in this camp spend a full week focused on developing a scripted play.  They will dive into the theatrical and creative process through workshops which will give them the opportunity to participate in audition training, acting techniques, stage combat, movement, set and props creation, makeup and costume design and challenging rehearsals for a fully staged summer production. No preparation is necessary; all students receive a role and attend rehearsals culminating in two fully staged and costumed performances.
