Ages 4 - Pre-K

8 Weeks
Mondays 5:30-6:30pm
Fall 2015 Session:  October 5- November 23

Each Storytime Theatre session features a classic children’s story that is read and brought to life by the young “pretenders” who must help work out casting, sequence, action and locations.

Imaginative play develops skills essential to reading and logic, and First Act’s Teaching Artist will lead students in the exploration of sequence, collaboration and empathy.

We provide:

·  New stories for returning students
·  A safe atmosphere where children can be immersed in the imaginary world of a story and experience empathy and self-awareness
·  Simple costumes and props to encourage children in exploring the sequence of a story and its characters.
·  An invitation for children to “problem solve” character challenges without the pressure of performance.
·  Weekly 60 minute classes, with new stories and activities introduced each week.
·  Lead and Assistant Instructors with a teacher ratio of 1 to 6.
·  Students may re-enroll for subsequent sessions.

“Children who are active in pretend play are usually more joyful and cooperative, more willing to share and take turns, and have larger vocabularies . . . Imaginative play helps youngsters to concentrate, to be attentive, and to use self-control.” SMART START: The Parents' Guide To Preschool Education by Marian Edelman Borden
