Want to help  support First Act   during the pandemic?

Our ability to offer programs  during the pandemic has been severely restricted, resulting in financial hardships that threaten  our ability to stay open.  Thank you for considering any size donation to help   us continue to cover our rent and utilities  while we weather this storm!

August 16, 2021 Update
All classes are planned to be  in-person, with masks required for all staff and students, regardless of location.    We will continue to follow CDC guidelines.   Should guidelines or local mandates require a return to virtual activities, we will continue to produce the entire play, complete with costumes, through our virtual ZOOM classroom.

March 17, 2021 Update

First Act will follow recommended CDC guidelines for summer camps and adhere to any Public Health Madison and Dane County orders in place at the time of each camp.

COVID-Based Camp Cancellation Policy:     In the event that any COVID-related issue arises and prohibits any of our camps from running as planned in part or in full, from two weeks prior to the start of  camp through the last day of camp, First Act will issue tuition credit for any portion of the camp that was unable to be offered.

September 9, 2020 Update

In order to better accommodate the uncertainty facing so many families right now, we have again adjusted our Refund/Cancellation policy for Fall 2020 Programs as follows:

Cancellations made two weeks prior to the class start date may receive a full refund or credit (minus a processing fee). Cancellations made less than two weeks prior to the class start date are non-refundable.  ALL cancellations will be charged a $20 processing fee.

 June 29, 2020 Update
First Act has adjusted and made additions to our summer programing to accommodate COVID-19
guidelines as recommended by Dane County, the City of Madison, and the CDC.
  • Our production camps are being held to a maximum of 24 students.
  • We have introduced new virtual and in-person “mini” camps with reduced student numbers.
  • All in person camps will adhere to the following safety protocol:
Mask Use:
  • Mask use will be required continually by both staff and students unless otherwise directed by camp staff
  • We will take “mask-breaks” and work outside whenever possible, allowing for greater social distance.
  • Masks for staff and students need to be laundered daily to maintain efficacy.  First Act will provide extra masks if needed.
  • Students will be provided with clear face shields for the performance.
  • For the safety of our students, audience members will be required to wear masks during the performance.

Social Distancing:
  • Students will work in groups of 8 or less with no more than 2 instructors at a time, and social distancing of 6 feet will be observed, including the way the play is staged and performed.
  • Audience members will be asked to observe social distancing during the performance.

Sanitary Procedures:
  • Door handles, bathrooms and public surfaces at our rehearsal and performance space will be wiped down with disinfectant throughout the day.
  • Hand sanitizing, hand washing, and the use of disinfectant wipes will be enforced throughout the entire camp week.

Health Checks:
  • Students and staff will undergo a temperature check with a digital non-contact thermometer each morning before camp begins.
  • Anyone having symptoms of COVID19 must remain home or will be sent home.

COVID-19 Safety Protocol for First Act Camps

June  19, 2020 Update

COVID-19 Cancellation Policy:

During this challenging time, in order that we may provide the necessary planning, supplies, and staffing for upcoming classes and camps, we find it necessary to update our existing cancellation policy.

Effective immediately, First Act Children's Theatre will no longer be offering cash refunds.

Instead, full tuition credits will be issued if camp/class is cancelled by First Act OR if a patron needs to cancel their registration.  Credits will be usable for up to one year following their issue toward any First Act class or camp.

*NOTE*:  This policy will remain in effect until further notice.
