The year is 1685, the place—London, England. A group of unlikely actors have been recruited to perform a new play by Shakespeare for Queen Elizabeth I’s Birthday. The only trouble is—Shakespeare and his script— are nowhere to be found! In a hilarious attempt to prepare a performance to please the Queen, the desperate actors combine scrolls from several of the Bard’s famous plays into a show of their own. When the Queen’s messengers get caught up in the act, and several women show up, wanting to perform and prepared to pretend to be “men, playing women” things take on a life of their own! Be prepared to laugh until you cry in this all-original, one-of-a-kind First Act production, written expressly for Centre Stage.
Each actor will receive two complimentary tickets to this show. Additional tickets may be purchased for $7 for adults and $5 for children. All ticket purchases will receive a matching donation from First Act and will go directly toward our scholarship fund.
*Directions to The Stream: Take Monroe Street to Woodrow St. (on the south edge of the Edgewood College campus). The Stream is the last building on the left. There is a parking lot in front of The Stream that can be used for dropping off actors, but may not be used for longer-term parking. For performances, limited street parking is available on Woodrow St. and Monroe St., or in guest lots accessed through the main campus entrance.
