It’s Midsummer and the forest is teaming with enchantment! Oberon, jealous King of the Fairies is determined to get revenge on Queen Titania, who prefers a small child’s company over his. Unfortunately, Puck, Oberon’s mischievous assistant, “helps out” and inadvertently mixes up two young men, Lysander and Demetrius and two young women, Helena and Hermia who have entered the woods, seeking escape, solace, and love. Everyone is soon pursuing the wrong person! Add to that, a group of amateur players trying to rehearse the “worst-play-ever” to perform for the Duke’s wedding and mayhem is bound to ensue! Join us for Shakespeare’s best-loved comedy to be performed outside against a backdrop of the woods!
Students in this camp spend a full week focused on developing a scripted play. They will dive into the theatrical and creative process through workshops which will give them the opportunity to participate in audition training, acting techniques, stage combat, movement, set and props creation, makeup and costume design and challenging rehearsals for a fully staged summer production. No preparation is necessary; all students receive a role and attend rehearsals culminating in two fully staged and costumed performances.
Camp and Performance Location:
Point of Grace Church, 7026 Raymond Rd., Madison, WI
NOTE: Students must be available for BOTH performances.
Tuition: $310
